Aarti Tikoo Singh

Aarti Tikoo Singh is Foreign & Security Affairs Editor at IANS, India's largest independent news agency. She has nearly two decades of experience in conflict reporting, including extensive coverage of the Kashmir conflict. A native of Kashmir, Tikoo grew up and studied in Jammu after the forcible displacement of her religious minority community from Kashmir in 1990. She received a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University in New York City, where she worked briefly at Columbia University, the United Nations, and the BBC. In 2002, she returned to Kashmir as a journalist and has since been reporting on the conflict. Tikoo has also written about Islamist radicalization, terrorism, and human rights abuses in other parts of India, and her work has been featured in a range of national and international publications.
