Dr. Alvite Ningthoujam is an Assistant Professor at the Symbiosis School of International Studies (SSIS), Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune, Maharashtra. From August 2020 to January 2021, he served as Visiting Faculty at the SSIS. He holds Ph. D., from the Centre for West Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for his doctoral thesis on Israel’s Arms Exports and the US Factor: Case Studies of China and South Africa, 1967-2000. From July 2017 to July 2019, he served as a Consultant at the Strategic Affairs Wing of the National Security Council Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi. Prior to this, he was a Senior Research Associate at Vivekananda International Foundation, New Delhi, where he focused on issues pertaining to the Middle East and trends and developments in International Terrorism, particularly focusing on the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS)/Daesh, and its footprints in India, South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Dr. Ningthoujam was among the Five Young Researchers from India who participated at the Next Generation Initiative organized by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, London, March-April 2017. He was a Fellow at the Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies, Bar-Ilan University, Israel when he was the recipient of the Israel Government Scholarship 2010-2011. Ningthoujam is a holder of UGC-awarded NET-JRF in International and Area Studies. His research interests include Israel’s military exports, Israeli foreign policy and its relations with the Southeast and East Asian countries, Indo-Israeli relations, India’s ties with the Middle Eastern countries, and Sino-Middle Eastern ties.
