Perhaps the most notable global shift in the past decade has been the sheer speed at which information travels. While this has exciting prospects for knowledge sharing and innovation, it has also contributed to the multifaceted challenge that disinformation poses for states, media organizations, and civil society. In this South Asian Voices series and webinar, contributors examine the role of disinformation in internal and external crisis escalation in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India (forthcoming). Contributors analyze the role disinformation and misinformation has played in previous crises, discuss the evolving role of social media and emerging technologies, and review prospects for future media literacy initiatives in South Asia.
